The Black Collegiate Gaming Association (BCGA) continues making History and changing lives in gaming and Esports with the Black College Con (BCC) Tour.
This past weekend, Black College Con Summit & Esports Tournament held an in-person gathering in the all-new Miles College Gaming & Esports Innovation Lab on the HBCU’s campus in Birmingham.
The BCC Summit & Esports Tournament was a full day of growth conversations, career networking, and Esports competitions. To kick off the summit introduction and welcome was made by McDonald’s owner & Entrepreneur Larry Thornton (McDonalds) & the first female president at Miles College Bobbie Knight. Following were candid conversations with successful Black leaders & executives in Gaming & Esports, moderated by Marcus Kennedy (Intel). Next, was a deep dive into what it’s actually like working day to day in the Gaming & Esports industry. The event continued with panel discussions through the evening and closed out with awards and prizes presentations.
The gathering connected black college students across the country with Black corporate partners, successful entrepreneurs, and leaders in the gaming/Esports industry including, HYPERX, MCDONALD’s, DRAFTKINGS, HP, and INTEL. The day concluded with the grand opening of the Miles College Gaming & Esports Innovation lab & over $10,000 in scholarships & prizes were awarded by PlayStation, HyperX, McDonalds & Dr. Pepper to the top performers in the NBA2K 22 & Rocket League Esports Tournaments. The tournament was broadcast live on Twitch with black college & high school students participating around the country.
Special thanks to Sean Humphrey of PA Universal and Dwayne Meekins of Salty Suite Gaming for a wonderful job producing the summit and the Esports Tournament.
