Black Media Mixer ATL Closes Out Women’s History Month with a Powerful Night of Connection at SM44
Atlanta, GA – Atlanta’s media and communications community gathered at SM44 (Steak Market 44) for The Black Media Mixer ATL: Women’s History Month Edition, an intentional evening designed to connect, highlight, and elevate women shaping the media landscape.
Hosted by award-winning media personality Randi O and moderated by Mr. Daniel Dickey, “The Renaissance Man,” the event featured a powerhouse panel of industry leaders across journalism, public affairs, and media entrepreneurship.
Panelists included:
- Jelisa Raquel – Entrepreneur, award-winning journalist, PR strategist, and CEO of Media Girls Network, Inc.
- Ebony Mayo – Publisher & Founder of ATL Magazine
- Ashli Lincoln – Emmy-nominated investigative reporter at WSB-TV
- Chata Spikes – Executive Director of Public Affairs for the Atlanta Police Department and spokesperson for the Mayor’s Office
The conversation delivered a strong blend of professional insight and lived experience, with panelists sharing their journeys, industry perspectives, and the realities of navigating media spaces at a high level. From building platforms and shaping narratives to leading in public-facing roles, the discussion offered both practical knowledge and perspective for those in attendance.
Guests remained engaged throughout the panel, followed by a networking experience that extended the evening’s purpose—creating space for collaboration, visibility, and continued relationship-building among Atlanta’s media professionals and creatives.
SM44 played a central role in the experience, delivering a high level of hospitality, engagement, and service throughout the evening. Guests had the opportunity to meet and connect with owners Alade Aminu (SM44/Bar 44) and Gary Ellis (SM44/Bar 44), as well as Executive Chef Willie Wallace, whose culinary direction shaped the evening’s dining experience.
A curated, family-style spread of appetizers was presented, including kale & arugula salad, shrimp cocktail, grilled shrimp cocktail, Wagyu meatballs, chef-fried mushrooms, crispy Brussels sprouts, collard greens, and mac & cheese—followed by SM44’s Biscoff Croissant Bread Pudding, a standout dessert offering for the evening.
Held on the final night of Women’s History Month, the event served as both a celebration and a call to continued support for women leading across media and communications.
