Several nonprofits and community stakeholder organizations including: Teen Expressions, Everyone Eats Foundation, Hosea Helps, My Brother’s Keeper Alliance – Fulton County, York Promotions, These Urban Times and Black Educated and Broke participated in: Red Zone 7 on 7 Flag Football, the 40 Yard Dash, Kicking Field Goals and some fun-filled football trivia. In The Trenches Community Impact Game Day was hosted by Symone Stanley (Sports Reporter/Host 92.9 The Game, HBCU Gameday) Marcel Alexander (NBA TV & TNT Producer/Influencer), Christina Yamamoto (Radio Personality – The Power Pod WSB Radio & WGAU) and the games were officiated by the Georgia Officials Athletics Association. Representative Mesha Mainor stopped by to present Ron Holland (Creator & CEO of In The Trenches) with the Resolution and Outstanding Georgian Award for his commitment to the community. Our community health partners, Fulton County Board of Health, HHP (Help For Healthcare Professionals) and C.O.R.E. (Community Organized Relief Effort) gave out HIV take-home test kits and Narcan, offered COVID-19 vaccines, provided blood pressure testing and assisted the community with registration for government benefits, such as Medicaid sign-up, WIC, and SNAP benefits.
Dj Wade Banner set the vibes for In The Trenches Community Impact Game Day by playing some of the hottest tunes to get everyone excited for the day. We kicked off the games with the 40-yard dash where we had the guys compete in the 1st heat and the ladies in the 2nd second. Following the 40-yard dash we went right into 7 on 7 Red Zone Flag Football and the players definitely gave the referees a good run. While some teams were playing flag football on one side of the field, on the other side we had the Field Goal kick competition. After the championship flag football game ended we went right into Football/Atlanta Trivia. This portion of the games was a nail biter because the winner would have their points added to the final score to pick a game winner. After tallying all the points, the winner of the In The Trenches Community Impact Game Day went to Hosea Helps. Ron Holland (Creator & CEO of In The Trenches) presented a jumbo $500 check donation to the nonprofit organization.
In The Trenches Community Impact Game Day was a family fun experience that included face painting for the kids, free snow cones provided by Frosty Ballz, Parlay Savory Saloon food truck, spiked beverages for the adults provided by Alcohol Heroes and a special appearance from the Atlanta Falcons very own Freddie The Falcon.
